EPA’s Office of Research and Development is developing a “Progress Report: Potential Impacts of Hydraulic Fracturing on Drinking Water Resources.” The report will describe the status of EPA research on the potential environmental and human health implications of hydraulic fracturing.

The EPA is seeking comment on the Progress Report from individual experts convened under the auspices of the EPA Science Advisory Board (SAB). Upon the establishment of the SAB ad hoc panel, the EPA SAB Staff Office will announce a meeting date and offer the public an opportunity to provide oral and written comment for individual experts’ consideration.

ORD plans to consider individual experts’ comments in the development of a future research report that will undergo a formal SAB peer review.
