Marianne L. Horinko, Assistant Administrator for the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER), today appointed Thomas P. Dunne to be the Associate Assistant Administrator for OSWER.
Dunne takes on this important role for EPA as the latest step in a 30-plus years career spanning senior positions in both government and the private sector. His experience includes previous appointments with EPA as Acting Regional Administrator, Region 10, based in Seattle, and also as an Associate Administrator in charge of the Agency’s Office of Regional Operations and State/Local Relations. Many of Dunne’s career accomplishments include roles where he coordinated the tasks of disparate groups and interests.
Prior to accepting this position, Dunne most recently served as a Senior Policy Analyst and Project Manager for OAO Corp., based in Greenbelt, Md. At OAO, Dunne managed contracts supporting EPA’s One Stop Program, an initiative that seeks to integrate environmental information and to reduce regulatory burden on the regulated community by providing universal access to environmental information.
Horinko said, “Tom Dunne brings extensive management and technical expertise to EPA. He’ll be a valuable asset to the agency.”
The Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response provides policy, guidance and direction for safely managing hazardous and solid waste, preparing for, and preventing chemical and oil spills, cleaning up contaminated property and counter-terrorism.
An alumnus of the University of Illinois, Dunne resides in Rockville, Md.
