Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training
This project provides funding for Northern Arizona University to recruit, train, and place unemployed and underemployed residents of Navajo Nation in environmental careers with skills needed to safely conduct remediation work at solid and hazardous waste-contaminated sites, as well as appropriate training in wastewater management and chemical safety. Training includes 142 hours of instruction. The core training program includes 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (for all 40 participants), Orientation to Environmental Cleanup, Hazardous Materials Safe Handling, Radiological Technician and Construction Training.
This assistance agreement provides full federal funding in the amount of $215,000.
