PERFORMANCE PARTNERSHIP GRANT
The purpose of this agreement is to support the Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency (NNEPA) in ensuring that pesticides are manufactured, sold, used, and stored according to the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The NNEPA will protect humans and the environment from harmful pesticide exposure by providing information about the appropriate use of pesticides; conducting inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action when violations are found, coordinate with Natural Heritage Program to mitigate any harm to threatened and endangered species or their habitat; implementing the federal Worker Protection Standard regulation that requires pesticide training, hazard information and personal protective equipment be provided to agricultural workers; and inform pesticide applicators about the process of obtaining EPA Certification for the application of Restricted Use Pesticides in Navajo Indian Country.
This assistance agreement provides partial federal funding in the amount of $212,000.
