Environmental Workforce Development and Job Training Cooperative Agreement for City of Detroit
This project provides funding for the City of Detroit to recruit, train, and place unemployed and underemployed residents of Detroit in environmental careers with skills needed to safely conduct remediation work at solid and hazardous waste-contaminated sites, as well as appropriate training in wastewater management and chemical safety. The core training program includes coursework in 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response, asbestos abatement, lead abatement and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The City of Detroit's target audience will include veterans, minorities, and individuals unemployed due to manufacturing plant closures.
