Project Title & Description
BROWNFIELDS CLEANUP COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT
The objective of the project is to clean up the North, East, and West Burn Areas, all located at 11271 Rough and Ready Highway in the City of Grass Valley. The three burn areas were mined for gold in the 19th century and later used to burn municipal solid wastes for 50 years. Unused since 1940, the sites are contaminated with metals and arsenic. The project also will be used to oversee the cleanups and support community outreach activities.
This assistance agreement provides full federal funding in the amount of $600,000.
