Beach Monitoring and Notification Program
This grant will fund the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources efforts to collect water samples from designated recreational ocean beaches in the Virgin Islands. The water samples will be tested for bacteriological water quality and the data will be provided to the public to inform them if the waters are safe for swimming. This increase in public notification will protect human health by reducing the risk to the bathing public of contracting diseases from contaminated water.
