TSCA Special Purpose Activities - Health Information Services Blood Lead Outreach Screening
This proposal aims to assess risk factors related to elevated blood lead levels among Thai-ethnic children in Los Angeles; to examine blood lead levels; and to provide outreach health educational programs in order to prevent childhood lead poisoning and promote good health in low-income Thai immigrant children and pregnant women in metro Los Angeles. Specifically, Thai Health Information Services intends to assess potential risk factors on elevated blood lead levels (EBLL) among low income, Thai-ancestry children in metro Los Angeles area; determine blood lead levels in 175 to 200 young Thai-ancestry children from low-income households; and prevent blood lead poisoning in low income Thai-ancestry children aged 6 yrs old and younger living in Hollywood, North Hollywood & City of Los Angeles.
This grant agreement provides full EPA funding in the amount of $36,000.
