Project Title & Description
Green Justice: Education & Outreach to Improve Energy Efficiency
Alternatives for Community and Environments (ACE) Green Justice project will increase energy efficiency and reduce indoor exposure to chemicals and toxic substances in residences in Roxbury, Massachusetts, resulting in a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, decreased energy use, reduced air pollution, and increased understanding of chemical risks and toxic substances. ACE will achieve this by training at least 6 youth to develop a comprehensive and culturally appropriate education curriculum on energy efficiency, toxics reduction, and chemical risks. ACE will reach a minimum of 50 families in environmental justice neighborhoods through trainings and will reach an additional 250 families through the distribution of education and outreach materials. ACE will also compile and share information about local training programs to promote the opportunities to low income residents to increase understanding of methods to prevent pollution, reduce exposure to chemicals and toxic substances, and improve public health in the indoor environment.
