Project Title & Description
Environmental Education - WOW Team Programs at the Ballona Wetlands
This agreement provides full EPA funding in the amount of $7,812. Preaward costs have been approved back to 09/01/05. The goals of the WOW Team are to teach students about the diverse habits, biology, cultural history, and functions of the Ballona Wetlands. Students first encounter the interactive presentation featuring illustrations, experiments, and activities in the classroom. The students then experience the Ballona Wetlands with all five senses on a guided field trip through the Wetlands' unique habitats where they observe a plethora of wildlife. Hands-on activities such as exploration and observation, experiments, and restoration work at the Wetlands also reinforce key ecological concepts. This educational program reaches approximately 5,000 K-5th grade children across the Los Angeles region each year.
