Environmental Justice Small Grants Program for Community Research
This action approves an award in the amount of $25,000 to the Community Development Council of Greater Memphis in Tennessee. The activities in this project are to conduct a youth workshop that investigates, demonstrates and surveys the results of air pollution caused by auto-centric urban sprawl on health and livability in low-income neighborhoods, specifically Binghampton, Frayser and Hollywood Springdale. This project also will further the recipient's efforts to protect the environments by helping the community understand the affects of auto-centric urban sprawl but how they can impact planning decisions in their community.
