Project Title & Description
CAA SPECIAL PURPOSE ACTIVITIES - DIESEL PUMPING EFFICIENCY PROGRAM
This assistance agreement provides full EPA funding in the amount of $50,000 to support the proposed pilot level Diesel Pumping Efficiency Program (DEEP) addressing stationary and portable agricultural water pumps powered by diesel engines. Its purpose is to improve the efficiency of the overall pumping plant consisting of the engine, transmission system, and the pump itself) as well as improve water management. The pilot will provide subsidized pump efficiency tests and incentive rebates for retrofit and repair of inefficient pumps (not engines or transmission systems) resulting in 40 pump tests and 6 pump repairs. Based on reduced pumping time the pump repairs are estimated to result in 19.9 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx) reductions and 1.1 tons of particulatn matter (PM10) reductions while saving 14,846 gallons of diesel.
