Project Title & Description
National Clean Diesel - CALSTART
This project will reduce diesel emissions at four airports in California. Each of the airports participating in this project have ongoing programs to maximize the use of clean fuels and technologies in their landside operations. This project will assist: 1) Los Angeles International Airport in replacing 10 diesel passenger buses with compressed natural gas (CNG) models; 2) Oakland International Airport in retrofitting 10 1999 model year, 35 foot shuttle buses equipped with Cummins engines with diesel particulate filters; 3) San Diego International Airport in retrofitting 5 different on-field, off-road vehicles with diesel particulate filters; and 4) San Francisco International Airport in the implementation of it's ambitious plan that contains a mix of a fuel price differential, diesel vehicle replacements with CNG models, and diesel retrofit devices.
