Project Title & Description
Take Charge Energy Ambassador National Model
This project will address educational and environmental priorities. Specifically, it will address "Community Projects" by implementing a community-focused stewardship activity as the primary teaching tool in addition to addressing "Environmental Education (EE) Capacity Building" by training the GW USA network in best practices for EE. It will also address the "Addressing Climate Change and Improving Air Quality" environmental priority by educating youth and adults to provide the necessary skills to make informed decisions and take responsible actions around energy efficiency and climate change, specifically reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
This project is designed to build upon GWD's successful "Take Charge" project to develop a national best practices EE model. Take Charge was implemented by GWD across Colorado, in both urban and rural areas and has educated over 1,400 high school and college students to become Energy Ambassadors. As a result of this effort, nearly 35,000 Colorado residents are able to implement changes with measurable results. This project has demonstrated its effectiveness at engaging students in achieving solid environmental outcomes with a diverse community audience.
