Project Title & Description
Yakama Nation Asthma Awareness Project
The project will increase Yakama tribal members' understanding of environmental asthma triggers. It will also reduce exposures to environmental asthma triggers among asthmatic Yakama children. Approaches will include clinic level outreach, direct one-on-one meetings with families and children with asthma, a community-wide asthma triggers reduction poster contest, child care interventions, and direct secondhand smoke education and cessation support. Existing ALA resources such as the Master Home Environmentalist program and Little Lungs Breathing program will be adapted to include Yakama Nation resources and didactic approaches.
