Targeted Watershed Initiative - Ocean Plastics Pollution/School Action Projects
The Monterey Bay Aquarium will educate one-hundred K-12 teachers about ocean plastic pollution, a complex issue. The teachers will be trained to conduct forty local community action projects to reduce sources of marine debris. The action projects will engage 7,500 students in a specific effort to reduce ocean plastic pollution. The overall goal is to increase public awareness of the issues of marine debris, build local community capacity, and take tangible action on the problem. This assistance agreement provides EPA funding in the amount of $50,000 towards these efforts.
Preaward costs are approved back to 9/1/2012.
