Project Title & Description
Increasing the Reuse of Building Materials
The Center for Ecological Technology (CET) proposes to create an entrance vestibule and classroom for its expanded ReStore Home Improvement Center in Springfield, Massachusetts that incorporates reused materials and educational displays about reuse. These “living displays” of reuse will be visited by 20,000 to 30,000 people annually who are working on home improvement projects and can incorporate reuse into their projects. Reuse is near the top of the waste management hierarchy and Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste is a major portion of the municipal waste stream. This area will be used to conduct demonstrations and public education programs relating to solid waste.
