Project Title & Description
Southeast Asian Community Oil Spill Education
The main purpose of the project is to educate the Southeast Asian (SEA) community and increase their awareness of the environmental and social impacts of the BP oil spill. Clear communication is the first essential key to getting the SEA community on track; recruiting the appropriate translators in the community to speak Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian, Mien. This will help to bridge the gap between the SEA community and those outside of the community who are working to amelioriate the harmful effects of the oil spill. Creating and translating literature in the appropriate languages that will clearly list the environmental health risk factors resulting from the oil spill and working with legitimate resources can help the community re-build their livelihood.
