Project Title & Description
CAA Special Purpose Activities - Operations; Training; State Support; WRAP; and Regional Haze
This assistance agreement provides partial federal funding in the amount of $915,738 to support Year 1 of a three year grant funding period through 12/31/2017. Therefore, any additional federal funds are contingent upon Federal appropriations.
WESTAR provides training as well as policy and technical support to 15 western states. EPA funding will further the specific interests of the member states by providing a forum for sharing information, identifying air quality issues, focusing resources on common goals, coordinating research, delivering training programs, and developing policy. In addition, WESTAR supports the Western Regional Air Partnership (WRAP) and Western states and tribes providing technical assistance on regional air quality management issues for example, in developing Regional Haze State Implementation Plans under CFR Section 51.308 and 51.309, which are the requirements to implement visibility protection for Federal Class areas under 169A of the Clean Air Act (CAA). The projects described assist with regional haze planning and implementation by providing technical data and analytical results in support of implementation plan completion, review, approval, and tracking.
Pre-Award Costs are approved back to 09/01/2014.
