Project Title & Description
EJ - Onondaga Environmental Institute
This agreement provides funding to address elevated blood lead levels and high asthma rates affecting low-income, minority residents located in Syracuse, NY. Four community workshops will be held to raise public awareness about the dangers of toxic substances (lead, asbestos, radon and mold) and educate residents to detect and rid their homes of these toxic substances. A job training program will also be available to 40 unemployed/underemployed city residents seeking building/construction job opportunities. Successful trainees will receive certification and assistance with job placement.
