Project Title & Description
Colorado Brownfields Assessment
Lab methods to determine the toxicity of cadmium, zince and/or copper to mayfly, stonefly and/or caddisfly nymphs from Colorado mountain streams will be developed and the toxicity of those metals to these species will be determined. The effects of drought on metals levels and response by organisms to drought will be determined by gathering data during more normal water years. These results will be compared to existing biocriteria to evaluate accuracy of metrics along a flow and metals gradient. These findings will provide data for developing and adopting biocriteria that are protective of aquatic life.
