ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION - Tuolumne River Education
This project will offer students, teachers, and parents a series of field trips, classroom lessons, tours of the Tuolumne River Watershed, and the development of a Service Learning related to the ecosystem and stewardship of the Tuolumne River. Additionally, teachers will undergo a separate training program which will include “Trekking the Tuolumne River” curriculum activities, use of science suitcases on water-related topics, and a Service Learning training. The audience includes over 700 4th grade students, 24 teachers, and 96 parents. The project is designed to encourage students to draw conclusions and evaluate their impact by monitoring and evaluating their own fieldwork based on basic scientific constructs taught in pre- and post-field classroom lessons. This assistance agreement provides EPA Funding in the amount of $42,900. Preaward costs have been approved back to 08/01/2007.
