Project Title & Description
Improving Non-Federal Involvement in Hazardous Waste Cleanup
Through site visits, direct interaction with community members, and document and literature reviews, The Tides Center is studying how hazardous substance contamination at current and former Federal agency sites (e.g. Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, Department of Agriculture, and other Federal facilities) contribute to community concerns regarding public health. Specifically, Tides is researching the degree to which public stakeholders are familiar with the cleanup challenges and upcoming decisions at sites in their area, and the degree to which they possess the tools and resources necessary to influence future investigations and decisions.
