Project Title & Description
Clean Fuels Ohio
Section 793 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 authorizes the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support grant and loan programs administered by the eligible recipients that are designed to achieve significant reductions in diesel emissions. The EPA has received funding to award Assistance Agreements under the National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program. Clean Fuels Ohio and Earth Day Coalition will coordinate efforts by four municipalities (Columbus Metropolitan Library, City of Lakewood, City of Athens and a fourth fleet to be determined later) to purchase and install 29 diesel particulate filters (DPFs), a DPF cleaning unit, and 186 anti-idling kits. It is projected that these retrofits will reduce Particulate Matter 2.5 by 0.57 tons, hydrocarbons by 19 tons, green house gases by 353.6 tons, and carbon oxides by 0.16 tons.
