Knowledge is Power: Improving Air Quality, Improving Lives.
The project seeks to reduce environmental factors that contribute to childhood asthma triggers in the urban core of Kansas City, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri, where a large percentage of low-income and disadvantaged residents live. The project aims and is purposed with the following goals in mind: (1) to educate families and health providers of environmental factors related to the Clean Air Act and that trigger asthma in children. (2) The program will build the capacity of the community at-large by training lay health workers/ambassadors to address childhood asthma in the local environment; primarily public school settings.
