Environmental Education - The Marine Mammal Center
The Marine Mammal Center-Marine Science Discovery Program of the San Francisco Bay Area will provide two 8-week intensive programs for six classes to introduce 180 low-income high school students to diverse career opportunities in the fields of marine & environmental science careers in research, fieldwork, animal care, oceanography, teaching, and lab analysis through hands-on educational experiences in laboratory and field techniques used in marine science, while also fostering their sense of marine stewardship and an appreciation for volunteerism and community involvement. Four returning students will also have an opportunity to participate in their Youth Summer Internship Program.
This assistance agreement will provide full federal funding in the amount of $34,693.
