Project Title & Description
NESCAUM - Marine Ferry and Tug Repower Project
This assistance agreement provides funding to Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009. This project will reduce emissions from four marine vessels, which includes ferries and tugs that operate in the Hudson River, New York Harbor, Long Island Sound, the Delaware River, and Puerto Rico, by replacing/upgrading pre-regulation engines with new cleaner engines. This will improve air quality by reducing emissions of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and greenhouse gases. The project will result in approximately 8 full-time equivalent jobs in the United States economy during 2009 and 2010.
