Project Title & Description
TMDL Dev. for PCB's in Lake Ontario
This project will provide funds to support the development of a lakewide Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for polychlorinated biphenys (PCBs) in Lake Ontario. A TMDL is a calculation of the maximum allowable daily load of a pollutant that a waterbody can receive without exceeding water quality standards for that pollutant. The PCB load allocations that will result from this project will allow the follow-up development of management actions aimed at reducing lakewide PCB loading and removing Lake Ontario's fish consumption advisories.
