Project Title & Description
FIFRA Special Purpose Activities - Env Stewardship to Growers, Retailers & Consumers
The Protected Harvest point-based certification program allows growers to be rewarded for the sustainability of their production practices, giving growers the incentive they need to grow crops with minimal pesticides and minimal environmental impact on an ongoing basis. The purpose of this project is to engage growers in the process of effectively communicating to their customers the nature of products grown under a certified IPM-based production program, as a means towards the verifiable long-term adoption of IPM and reduced-risk pest management practices.
This assistance agreement provides partial EPA funding in the amount of $222,650. Additional federal funds are contingent upon the Environmental Protection Agency, Region 9, receiving federal appropriations for federal FY-07/08.
