Project Title & Description
NJ Institute for Social Justice - Job Training
New Jersey Institute of Social Justice will use this funding to carry out a Job Training project providing training to residents of the City of Newark. Under this Cooperative Agreement, the New Jersey Institute of Social Justice will develop and implement a program to provide brownfields job training to residents of communities which have received EPA brownfields assessment and/or cleanup grants. "Brownfields" are properties whose expansion, redevelopment or reuse may be complicated by the presence of hazardous substances or other pollutants or contaminants, and training is necessary to address the contamination. The New Jersey Institute of Social Justice will focus on selecting trainees from within the jurisdiction of the City of Newark. These actions will benefit the grantee and the public through facilitating future cleanup and redevelopment of local properties.
