Project Title & Description
Best Practices/Landfill Gas-Energy Projects
The goal of the project is to facilitate best-practice sharing amongst local government officials in Latin America to promote methane recovery and use through landfill gas energy projects that reduce emissions, spur economic development through public-private partnerships, and promote energy security. To meet this goal, the project includes three primary objectives. Objective 1: host a series of four workshops, entitled "Best Practices in Landfill Gas-to-Energy Projects: Improving Local Government Financial Performance by Protecting the Environment". Objective 2: To formulate a best-practices framework and knowledge management for landfill gas-to-energy projects that will build capacity and facilitate action planning. Objective 3: Conduct outreach and capacity building amongst local government associations and key national representatives on the financial and environmental benefits of landfill methane recovery and use.
