Midwest Rail Study Cooperative Agreement
The recipient's primary objective of this award is to help states in meeting Clean Air Act requirements by assisting them decide whether to pursue voluntary or regulatory controls on locomotives as an effective fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) control strategy. Other objectives are to better understand carbon particulars, complex and important PM 2.5 component and improve emission inventories for off-road source emissions, especially locomotive emissions.
