Harbor SEALS Voluntary Environmental Monitoring Program
The program teaches high school students about how pollution is caused, how to collect and analyze environmental data and how to promotes public understanding of the environmental issues facing New York Harbor. Student volunteers, with adult supervision, will collect water quality data at five new monitoring stations in New York Harbor. Students will use the data to evaluate the site's potential for oyster and other habitat restoration. Students will use the knowledge and skills learned to educate the community about environmental issues.
