Project Title & Description
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PROGRAM - Well Water Quality
The purpose of the project is to investigate water quality in a socioeconomically and socioenvironmentally vulnerable area in the Upper Santa Cruz Watershed. Metals have been identified in the surface waters of the study area. The applicant will collect water samples from 40 private drinking water wells in dry and wet seasons and analyze them for Arsenic, Mercury, Cadmium, Copper, and Chromium. Should the study find high concentrations of metals in well water, educational materials will be developed to provide community members with exposure prevention information.
This award provides full federal funding in the amount of $50,000.
