Project Title & Description
Authentic Learning Communities
Authentic Learning Communities is a partnership between the City of Buffalo School District and the Buffalo Museum of Science/Tifft Nature preserve. It uses the theme of natural and human communities as a unifying concept for environmental education. The program engages learners utilizing authentic specimens, research, problem solving, and real world experiences. Students participate in an inquiry based citizen science project focusing on invasive species. This program connects children directly with science research. Environmental literacy and stewardship develops through the use of new technologies, data collection, and the study of current and past environmental health issues.
