Project Title & Description
Community-based Green Streets- Green Neighborhoods Project
The project addresses the issues of stormwater pollution, urban heat island effect, and community livability. “Community livability" is defined here as the degree to which a community space encourages or discourages social interaction, time in the outdoors, and use of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation like walking and bicycling. Through classroom and experiential workshops focused on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students, this project develops environmental stewards educated to solve local environmental issues in a holistic way through analysis, design and hands-on participation in neighborhood Green Infrastructure exercises.
