Southeastern U.S. Regional Targeted Watershed Initiative
This action approves an award in the amount of $54,745 to the Southeast Watershed Forum, Inc. This grantee will partner with Southeast Aquatic Resources Partnership, a regional consortium of fish and wildlife agencies, nonprofit organizations and industries, along with local organizations and agencies on habitat restoration and watershed protection efforts in the Raccoon Creek area of the Etowah River watershed in GA. This project will showcase the need to sustain gains in habitat and watershed improvement through implementation of protective land use practices. It will also demonstrate how to align watershed and conservation planning with county land use planning to ensure that watershed best practices are built into and reflected in local land use practices.
