Project Title & Description
Environmental Education - Eco-Oakland Project
This agreement provides full EPA funding in the amount of $10,000. Preaward costs have been approved back to 09/01/05. The Eco-Oakland Project targets East Oakland elementary students, teachers and families, involving them in hands-on, watershed-wide environmental education and restoration experiences. Both in-class presentations and field-based activities are included in this program. Clean-up and native plant restoration activities will take place at several points in their local watershed. The goals are to provide opportunities for East Oakland residents to invest in their local resources, to address the severe shortage of environmental education programs within the East Oakland community, to foster community-based environmental stewardship within the community through hands-on activities, and to improve academic achievement in science, math and literacy through place-based education.
