Source Reduction Assistance
This action approves a new award in the amount of $30,000 to The Georgia Conservancy, in partnership with other entities to develop a school site selection (siting) curriculum for the parents/caregivers, community members, and the public involved in (1) site selection for school facilities, and (2) decisions regarding the resuse of existing facilities. The curricuum will utilize EPA's recently released draft of voluntary School Siting Guidelines and will integrate information from existing public health and planning, environmental and architecural studies and reports to provide fact-based information that will clearly demonstrate the need for, and benefits of, environmentally sound school siting decisions. This curriculum could serve as a model or template for other regions.
