Project Title & Description
Hawks Aloft, INC.
Living with the Landscape: Building a Future for Communities and Wildlife is an innovative program with the goal to teach elementary school students about the importance of environmental stewardship, and to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving through a hands-on project-based curriculum. The main strategy of the program is to use live non-releasable birds of prey (raptors) to interest and excite the students in order to illustrate important ecological concepts and then translated into improved student academic achievement. This increases motivation to become environmentally responsible citizens, and to encourage empowerment, enabling students to 'make a difference' in their communities and remote schools located on Tribal lands within the state of New Mexico.
