Environmental Justice Small Grant Program
This grant will focus on reducing carbon and costs in underserved populations. This project addresses the burden of energy consumption among predominantly low-income Hispanic and minority residents in Lake County, Colorado. The project intends to improve inefficient residential buildings in Lake County in order to benefit residents and the environment. This project hopes to empower the community find solutions to environmental challenges posed by old and inadequate housing stock in a severely cold climate. Greenhouse gas emissions associated with residential energy will be reduced within the community. The applicant will develop outreach and program development to deliver information and resources to low-income, predominantly Spanish speaking residents. An outcome of this grant will be reduced greenhouse gas emissions through energy improvements in residences.
