Project Title & Description
LAKE COUNTY WATERSHED PLAN
Lake County Stormwater Management Commission will work on five projects to implement the in-the-ground construction projects. 1) The Nippersink Lakes Restoration Stabilization project will stabilize 5200 feet of severely corroded lake shoreline in two manmade ponds that are part of the Squaw Creek Watershed and greater Fox River Watershed. 2) The Spring Lakes/Des Plaines Inlet Repair project will repair and restore an inlet adjacent to the Des Plaines River to handle stormwater flow from 250 residential acres. 3) The Rain Gardens of Bangs Lake project will design, install and maintain a series of rain gardens in common areas to absorb runoff, increase hydrological recharge and reduce and cleanse non-point source pollution before it enters surrounding wetlands and Bangs Lake. 4) Wetland Restoration Planning for Skokie River Woods project will prepare a wetland restoration and management plan for a 24.5 acre parcel. 5) Renovation of Lagoon at Whipple O'Parrot Park project will include 1,410 linear feet of shoreline restoration to replace turf grass with native plants, along with the replacement of the outlet structure to provide additional flood control benefits.
