Project Title & Description
The Tacony-Frankford Watershed Teacher Education Project
Awbury will provide a series of professional development sessions to 60 local teachers of grades K-8 within the Tacony-Frankford watershed. The sessions will demonstrate new activities and teaching methods to them and motivate teachers to use local wetlands as "outdoor classrooms” for teaching about local watersheds. The area of this “natural boundary” is nearly equivalent to “within the bounds of the NW region of the Philadelphia school district”. Majority of the teachers will be from the public schools who need support most urgently, other teachers will come from charter or private schools and a few participants may be from the homeschool communities.
