Project Title & Description
State Indoor Radon Program
Radon is a high-risk indoor contaminant and the second leading cause of lung cancer. These funds will be used by the State to continue developing and implementing its statewide Radon program. Specifically, the Fiscal Year 08 funding will be used to continue educating the public, industry, and others about radon-related health risks and specific actions that can be taken to reduce elevated levels in homes, schools, and workplaces. The funds will also be used to encourage the use of radon-resistant new construction and investigate radon issues and problems that are unique to the State. The ultimate result will be healthier indoor air quality and fewer deaths caused by radon-induced lung cancer.
