NYS Idling Reduction Ed Program
The Program will enable the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to competitively fund local school district projects to reduce harmful emissions by retrofitting school buses with diesel fuel-fired coolant heaters. Such devices heat a coolant which transfers heat to the engine and passenger cabin, thereby reducing the need to keep the vehicles engine idling during cold weather conditions. The EPA funded educational component of this project will increase awareness and use of idling reduction techniques and help achieve emission reductions.
