Project Title & Description
Asombro Institute for Science Education
The Asombro Desert Nature Park is a non-profit organization established in 1990 to improve scientific literacy and environmental understanding of the Chihuahuan Desert Ecosystem. They have created a "Real World - Real Science Project" that will expand the field trip learning experience for middle school students. The Real World - Real Science Project will host a workshop for 10 middle school teachers from Dona Ana County, New Mexico and El Paso County, Texas to train them to use a full, enhanced program that will relate their field trip experience with the rest of their curriculum. They will host Pre-field trip activities to help expose the students to the vocabulary and concepts they will be learning. They will also hold Post-field trip activities that will help students extend the information they learned on the field trip to other areas of their lives.
