Project Title & Description
FY 09/10 PESTICIDE CONSOLIDATED COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT
The purpose of this agreement is to support the Arizona Department of Agriculture (ADA) in ensuring that pesticides are manufactured, sold, used, and stored according to FIFRA. This agreement seeks to protect human health and the environment by improving understanding of and compliance with pesticide laws and regulations. ADA will protect human health and the environment from harmful pesticide exposure by providing information about the appropriate use of pesticides; ensuring pestcide products are used according to the EPA registered label and applicable regulations; conducting inspections, and taking appropriate enforcement action when violations are found. The recipient will forward inspections to EPA for action as outlined in the cooperative agreement. ADA will implement the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) to protect agricultural workers from harmful pesticide exposure by providing information about and ensuring compliance with label requirements and the WPS regulation. ADA will also provide training and certification to applicators of restricted use pesticides. This project also includes activities designed to protect surface and ground water resources from pesticide contamination.
