Project Title & Description
Fisheries and Oceans Canada
Sampling of the Mysis relicta population of Lake Huron will be accomplished during this study. The samples will be taken on numerous stations on Lake Huron and will provide a baseline population estimate of the abundance and distribution of this important crustacean. The samples will be preserved in the field, enumerated in a Canadian laboratory, and the results provided to the scientific community as a report to the Environmental Protection Agency. With the loss of the crustacean, Diporiea, from Lake Huron, Mysis relicta populations may be reduced considerably as fish use them as a main food source.
