Project Title & Description
Waller ISD School District Retrofit 35 School Buses
This cooperative agreement is to provide assistance to the Houston-Galveston Area Council - to retrofit forty-seven (47) school buses with EPA-certified diesel particular filters (DPFs) and closed crankcase ventilation (CCV) systems, bringing them up to the 2007 federal emissions' standards. The retrofits will occur on school buses that are part of Waller Independent School District. Implementation of this project will help reduce children's harmful exposure to particulate matter and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and air toxics, and improve overall regional air quality within the 8-county Houston-Galveston-Brazoria (HGB) ozone non-attainment area, which includes Waller County. The results of the project will be reduction of emissions of a variety of air toxins. Among these benzene, formaldehyde, and 1,3-butadiene, which are known carcinogens.
