Project Title & Description
Community Wetlands Education
This project provides funding to the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds to provide community education on a significant environmental concern in the Caribbean: threats to and destruction of wetlands; it focuses on Cano Tiburones, one of the most significant. The Society is partnering with the Puerto Rican Ornithological Society to conduct workshops in Arecibo to provide educators, students and the community with an understanding of how stewardship for wetlands can reduce pollution. An additional program goal is forming a local wetlands support group.
